Kardian Somily is a small disc on the wall by your bed. It reads your resting heart rate and breathing from the movement of your chest, through the duvet, all night. Each morning: last night, beside your usual. No band to tighten, no battery to watch, nothing to forget on the nightstand.

Wearables are good at a lot. But a record only builds while the device is on, charged and comfortable, every single night.
Charge it overnight and you lose the night. Charge it in the day and you have to remember.
A band on the wrist or a ring on the finger is one more thing in bed. Some people simply sleep better without.
Travel, a busy week, a flat battery. Then the streak breaks, and the habit with it.
A pad under the mattress feels both of you. A sensor above your side reads the person closest to it.
Read from the chest through the night, thousands of times, while you are still.
Breaths per minute, and the spacing between them: two nights can average the same and feel nothing alike.
How long you slept, when you were in bed, and how restless the whole body was.
Last night next to your last seven and fourteen, so a drift stands out against your usual.
With Max, Heartbeat Clarity follows how cleanly and regularly each beat comes through, night after night. It is investigational, and breathing rhythm is a wellness trend; neither is an FDA-cleared measurement.

A ring or a watch is good at daytime activity, heart-rate variability, skin temperature and sleep stages. Somily does not do those. It measures breathing and resting heart rate from the chest, through bedding, with nothing worn, and compares each night with your own. Many people use one for the day and Somily for the night.
About 1.5 metres from the floor, on your side of the bed. Sleeping alone: the centre.
Closer to the body, just above the mattress, keeps the cable out of sight.
Out of sight between the wall and the headboard, as long as the headboard is not a solid metal plate.
Kardian Somily is a general wellness product. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose, and is not an alarm. Not the XK300 Essence and not equivalent to it.
No. Rings and watches estimate sleep stages; Somily does not. It reads resting heart rate, breathing, time in bed and how restless the night was, and compares each night with your own recent nights.
Yes. The radar passes through a duvet, a topper and clothing, in any sleeping position.
It collects from the closest body. Mount it above your side of the bed and it reads you. Two people, one sensor each, above each side, each paired to its own person in the app. If it picks up two sets of vital signs it pauses.
No. There is no lens and no microphone. Radar reads movement. It cannot see a face or hear a word.
No. It runs on USB power from the wall, so it is always on and never flat.
Not for two years. $299 includes two years of Max membership. After that, keep Max at $6 a month, or move to the free plan and keep the basics. Nothing changes unless you choose it.
Yes. Your nights go to the free XKare app over your home Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is used only once, during set-up.
