Radar has limits too. Radio does not pass through water or coil springs. On a waterbed or an innerspring mattress, the sensor goes on the wall. No study has compared radar and pads head to head over months, and we do not claim otherwise.

Wave length is the speed of light divided by frequency. A wave a few millimetres long reflects from the first soft surface it meets; a wave about 4 cm long carries through bedding to the chest.
